Hello:
After a horrible summer and fall of diving was ruined by the discharges from Lake Okeechobee, I had to take time off and fight to clean up the waters. You might have seen some of our advocacy in the press or on TV. We were busy. Here are some of the events we have in the works and coming up:
April 26th: Spoil Island cleanup from 9am until mid-afternoon... leaving from the Town of St Lucie Village's marina on Torpey Rd at 9am. Wear shoes that can get wet but will protect you some. Bring gloves, bug spray and tools to cut and saw invasive trees. We will remove them and trash as well. We expect River Kidz, Troop 772 and loads of warriors to help, so it should be a fun time. We are hoping to have a cookout at lunch and spend some time talking to the kids and bring them up to speed on conservation methods, the waters, fishing and anything water.
June 6 and 7th: 2nd Annual Lionfish Safari: information may be found on the facebook page or website. We meet this week and I will post further info here then. four person teams. Captain's meeting on the 6th at the Riverwalk community center and safari in the 7th ending at 5pm at city marina for weigh-in and awarding of prizes.
July 12 and Aug 2nd are annual inlet cleanups for Sebastian (meet 10am at Sebastian Yacht Club Ramp) and Ft Pierce (meet at 2pm, 12A buoy ramp). details will be coming out soon as tides are checked and times set. calling all divers, boaters, deck hands and in Ft Pierce.... kayakers as well.
